Today we are talking about how to create order from chaos or how to return some Zen-like sanity to the space around you. In other words, we’re talking decluttering techniques, because one of the biggest areas of stress in many people’s lives is being constantly surrounded by clutter.
Clutter is a productivity killer; it’s distracting and can be a huge time-sucker if you can’t find what you need when you need it. On top of that, disorder in your external environment can actually have a big impact on your mental state; disorganization and distraction tends to get a lot of people frazzled, stressed out, and exhausted.
This is important because when you’re feeling tired and stressed, you’re less productive and less able to maintain focus on what you’re doing, which, in turn, has an impact on your ability to keep moving forward on that big dream of yours.
A return to simplicity and order, on the other hand, tends to restore a sense of calm, serenity, and balance. In addition, finding yourself in a newly re-organized environment often has the effect of renewing your energy, motivation, and determination to succeed.
Dealing with clutter is obviously important for achieving what you want to in life, but for many people, the thought of decluttering seems utterly overwhelming (“where do I even start???”). The good news is that the decluttering process doesn’t have to be stressful or difficult! Doing it effectively, however, does require some strategy. So today I’m going to share with you five easy-to-implement techniques for clearing up your clutter and creating order from chaos so you can reclaim your sanity and get back to doing what you want to be doing.
