Gratitude is the foundation for your future success. Appreciation for what you already have, at whatever stage you’re at, is the key to creating more of anything that’s important to you.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting more (of whatever) in your life, but the way to get more (of anything) is to wholeheartedly appreciate what already exists.
Are you aligned with lack or abundance?
When we believe that we do not have enough – that we are lacking in some way – then we are setting ourselves up for a lifetime of lack. Oprah Winfrey said it best when she said: “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
Gratitude is the foundation upon which you build your extraordinary life. Appreciate everything that you already have, no matter how small or insignificant you think it is.
What we are focused on is what we tend to bring more of into our lives, so if we get stuck in a mindset that says “I don’t have enough”, then we will never feel like we have enough, no matter how much we have.
Shifting your perspective
If we can shift our perspective to one of appreciation, however, then we will consistently find more in our lives to be appreciative of. But it has to be genuine. Fake gratitude just for the sake of trying to get something else isn’t going to work, because you’re not truly grateful in that case – you’re still focused on lack.
Gratitude is the foundation upon which you build your biggest dreams. #thankful Share on XSo just focus on being honestly grateful for whatever wonderful things already exist in your life, even if it’s as small as a sunny day or an unexpected smile from the girl at the coffee shop drive-through window.
This does not, in any way, mean that you can’t or shouldn’t have greater abundance in your life. By all means work on that and get excited about the possibilities! Dream big and want whatever it is that you want; you’re allowed to and you are meant to.
But never allow those dreams to make you complacent or indifferent to what you already have. Don’t take anything for granted. Be happy with where you are while you work to create where you want to be.
