What do you think of the world these days? What’s your opinion about “most people”? When you think about the future of this planet, what do you see?
What was the first thing that came to mind – your automatic reaction – when you first read those questions I just asked?
- Did you think the world is a beautiful place, or a horrible place?
- Did you think most people are kind and helpful, or did you think most people are idiots who should never be allowed to breed?
- Did you think the future is full of possibility and wonder, or did you think that everything is going to hell in a handbasket?
Basically, when you think about the world and the people in it, do you think humanity is intrinsically good, or do you think we are inherently bad and, therefore, doomed to self-destruction?
As within, so without
I ask because I posted the following quote on the Vibe Shifting Facebook page last week from Ralph Waldo Emerson:
One of the comments that was left by a page fan said: “Ouch, that’s harsh…”
Perhaps. But it’s also true. What you believe the world to be is a reflection of what you carry within. If you believe the world is a cruel, horrible place… it’s because that’s what you choose to see in it.
Likewise, if you believe the world to be filled with abundance, joy, and beauty, it’s because that is what you choose to see in it.
What you experience of the world is what you choose to believe about it. Share on XYou see the world through the filters that you put in place. What you experience of the world is what you choose to believe about it; your opinion of the world defines it, and what you focus on is what you draw into your reality. In essence you create the world you are experiencing.
Choose your world wisely
Imagine yourself as a great big magnet, automatically attracting stuff (things and experiences) to you everywhere you go, all the time. You will always attract the stuff you’re aligned with, whether you want to or not.
Right now, right at this very second, you are aligning yourself with a particular version of the world. You’re creating it around yourself with every breath, with every thought. Everyone is; everyone is creating versions of the world that they continuously wrap around themselves.
The problem is that most people aren’t aware that they’re doing it, so they have no control over what they’re creating. They assume it’s all “out there”, when in fact it’s all “in here”.
Change the way you look at things
What I’m saying is that, if you’re going to create the world anyway, then maybe it’s time to put some thought into what you want to experience, rather than just doing it on auto-pilot and having to deal with the fallout as you go along.
In other words, if you want to change the way you experience the world, you need to change the way you think about the world, first.
If you want to change your world, you need to change the way you THINK about it, first. Share on XWhen you’ve dealt with really horrible things in life, it’s hard to see the good in anything anymore. But the only way to change your life experiences from here on in is to change the way you look at things. You need to alter the conditioning you’ve been subjected to.
So tomorrow morning when you wake up, ask yourself again: what do you think of the world today? Or, more specifically: what will you make the world today?
And just start small; decide that, just for today, you will make it a point to look for the good in the world. Decide that you will create a world of kindness and love.
Then ask yourself the same questions again tomorrow…

This concept is so true, it’s amazing that whilst a lot of people are becoming aware of this (through blogs such as your own) there are still so many people living in the same world, seeing the same things yet interpreting them in a much more negative way… and therefore getting that same experience. ‘If you don’t go within, you go with out’ thanks for the reminder.
Hello Tim — welcome to Vibe Shifting, and thank you for commenting. 🙂 Whenever I see negative stuff happening in the world, I always go back to Fred Rogers’ quote about looking for the helpers. No matter how bad the situations, the helpers — the ones who rush in to provide comfort and assistance — are always there. There are good people in the world. Lots of them. They just don’t tend to get all the media publicity, so they’re easy to overlook.
